Racist Stamp...NOT

Description

twin sibling of this Sexist Stamp...NOT by WhatsInAName99 stamp.

Simply because a book/movie/television show/comic/short story contains heavy racist themes does NOT meant that the story is, in and of itself, racist as a whole.

Now some of you may be asking, how can this be?  What could possibly excuse any story containing any trace of racism?  Well, think about it with that mushy thing inside your skull called a BRAIN!

When/Where is the story taking place?

Does the story take place during the 1800s in the USA?  Well, guess what?  Black people were SLAVES in half the country and in the half of the country where they were NOT slaves, they had no where near the rights whites did in that time period.  So is the story (take the controversial works of Mark Twain for an excellent example) depicts a black character as strong and hard working but completely uneducated and ignorant, well that's because slaves WERE!  It was actually illegal to educate slaves, although some slave owners still did this, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were two such people.

Does your story take place anywhere in the first world between the year 1700 and the year 1970?  Well, it was socially acceptable and perfectly common place to call a black people Negros, colored folk, and yes even niggers until the desegregation movement in the 1960s. It was no different than calling a red-head a ginger today.  So a period appropriate use of the dreaded Nword is NOT racist, it is historically accurate.

Does the story take place in WW2 era USA and feature Japanese/German/Italian Americans?  Well guess what?  They were ostracized during this time and even placed in more humane versions of concentration camps in some parts of the country (Google "Japanese Internment," you will learn a lot!).  So a story that takes place in WW2 and depicts prejudice against these ethnic groups, it is not racist, it is historically accurate.

Noticing a pattern here yet?

I fully expect buthurt SJWs to hate on this stamp, especially the second paragraph!

I don't get why people just go like "THE FOUNDING FATHERS WERE TERRIBLE PEOPLE!". Because if you learn history, Thomas Jefferson actually hated slavery but he inherited all of his slaves from family members, and George Washington eventually freed his slaves and let them have property of his house for four generations.
